Health Information Literature Searches
The Family Learning Place staff offer a brief orientation and informational tour for new visitors on materials, online resources and Internet searches. We welcome visitors to conduct independent research on health topics. Our staff are always available for consultation.
We will perform a literature search for you and prepare a customized informational packet that can be brought to you in the hospital or mailed to your home.
Requests for customized literature packets can be made in person, over the phone, or via fax or Internet. Please allow at least 48 hours for your request to process. If more immediate assistance is needed, please call your healthcare provider.

Family Representatives
Family Outreach Specialists serve as a link between staff and families. In collaboration with the medical team and the Family Learning Place, they help families learn about hospital services and offer support.
We keep an up-to-date list of support groups, community-based agencies and national organizations that assist children and their families.
Find-A-Friend Group Support
This parent-to-parent support group for parents or caregivers of children with special needs offers assistance with services, programs and events, and more. The group also offers an opportunity for parents to connect with others going through a similar experience.
The group meets monthly. Please check the calendar of events for days and times.
- Lunch will be provided for all meetings.
- One-on-one peer support is available.
Family Advisory Council
The Family Advisory Council helps the Family Learning Place meet essential needs of patients and families by helping them find health materials, resources and support groups. Members of the Family Advisory Council provide recommendations to improve the patient, family and caregiver experience.
