General Peds Our Expertise

Whether your child has a sore throat or a complex condition, you want him or her to get the best care possible. We have experience with every type of condition that children face—and we’ll be your partners in health along the way.

Our staff works across departments to deliver high quality care to children in the Bronx, Westchester, northern Manhattan, and beyond. Many of our faculty members are involved in active research, and collectively, we address a wide range of physical and psychological issues that children and young adults face. Our staff is passionate about helping children, and tuned into the special needs of young people. We’re healthcare providers that your children can trust—and you can count on.

Montefiore Medical Group has two sites in the Bronx serving General Pediatric care:

East Bronx: The Comprehensive Family Care Center (CFCC)
, located in a neighborhood health center.
North Bronx: The Family Care Center (FCC), a multispecialty site.

Both sites provide complete family healthcare services, including adult medicine and obstetric and gynecological care, as well as pediatrics. They accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care and Child Health Plus. Each offers:

  • 24 hour-a-day telephone access
  • Evening hours for working parents
  • Referrals within the network of subspecialists at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM)
  • Hospitalization at CHAM when necessary
  • Comprehensive care of newborns at the Weiler and Wakefield newborn nurseries.

When you or your child needs medical care, you don’t want to wait around: you need high-quality, convenient care, suited to your schedule. That’s why we are linked up with other pediatric care centers in the area, to provide maximum coverage for our patients.

We offer confidential care for adolescents in a teen-friendly setting.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

CHAM_Rounding_2010_10_065_316x210There are many opportunities to explore general pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore—and beyond. If you are a pediatric resident, consider training at the Comprehensive Family Care Center (CFCC) or the Family Care Center (FCC). Working with both acutely and chronically ill children, you’ll receive training in primary pediatric and continuity care in the category of your choice. There are about 30 residents at a time at each site, and dental residents are welcome to train in this program.
