Who We Are
The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is the only hospital in the Bronx exclusively dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of children. Nestled between Manhattan and Westchester County, CHAM is a premier academic children’s hospital, nationally renowned for its clinical excellence, innovative research and commitment to training the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists.
Since opening in 2001, CHAM’s goal has been to provide children with the best opportunity to lead active and healthy lives and realize their full potential. To achieve this goal, we’ve recruited some of the world’s leading pediatric specialists and child health investigators and implemented the latest medical technologies to deliver the highest quality and safest healthcare with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of the children, families and communities we serve.
CHAM is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best children’s hospitals in multiple pediatric subspecialties, including Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Orthopaedics and Neonatology. Each year, we care for over 9,000 hospitalized infants, children and adolescents with complex medical and surgical conditions, including 1,100 in our state-of-the-art pediatric critical care unit, and approximately 900 critically ill newborns in our neonatal intensive care units.
As one of the busiest pediatric ambulatory programs in the country, almost 200,000 children receive treatment in our pediatric emergency department, outpatient clinics and school health clinics and through Montefiore’s innovative community outreach initiatives.
As the Pediatric Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, ground- breaking discoveries by CHAM investigators have led to new therapies, safer processes, new models of care and better outcomes for children cared for at CHAM and throughout the world.
Thanks to the generous contributions and commitment of our donors, community partners, faculty, staff, grateful families and Montefiore leadership, CHAM is poised for physical and programmatic growth. With your help we will achieve our mission of providing outstanding clinical care in a family-centered, healing environment; educate the healthcare professionals of tomorrow; discover new treatments through innovative research; and advance the health of all children.
