Fetal Conditions We Care For

Every year, our Fetal Medicine team experts perform over 30,000 prenatal ultrasound scans and provide consultations to more than 300 women who carry a baby with a significant birth defect. We also serve as a referral center for many medical centers and communities in the tri-state area for severe and early fetal growth restriction as well as complications of monochorionic twins and triplets.

Most birth defects are best managed with medical and/or surgical treatment after birth. In many of these cases planning for delivery and first-rate post-natal care can greatly impact the survival of a sick infant. Together with our team members from CHAM we manage the pregnancy, plan for delivery and for postnatal care.

An increasing number of medical conditions in the unborn child can be treated before birth to reduce some of the life-threatening or devastating consequences of the defect. Our experienced team evaluates and treats some of these conditions. In cases where the outcome is poor regardless of any pre or postnatal therapy, we can offer the baby comfort care in the NICU.
