The Phoebe H. Stein Child Life Program offers an extraordinary internship opportunity for individuals looking to advance
their skills and training in child life. With the broad scope of services provided by our organization,
interns will benefit from a range of experiences and responsibilities, including:
- Performing thorough patient developmental assessments.
- Creating and implementing individualized treatment plans for developmentally appropriate preparation and support throughout
hospitalization.
- Maintaining and completing process journals, verbatim logs, practice chart notes, procedure notes, diagnosis sheets,
case studies and a gap in service project.
- Maintaining playroom activities and supplies.
- Participating in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Precepting volunteers.
- Serving as a liaison for patients and their family members, as well as the interdisciplinary team.
Eligibility
Qualified applicants will have completed 100 hours of volunteer work within a hospital program. We only accept candidates who have completed the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) coursework verification form inclusive of 6 applied areas of study and the additional academic coursework portion (9 additional courses). Complete a Common Child Life Internship Application that must be submitted according to Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) deadlines.
We offer two opportunities for application:
- Summer opportunity: One slot available for affiliated graduate student for a full-time 14-week
volunteer internship. One slot available for an affiliated graduate student for a seven week part time practicum
or five week full time practicum.
- Academic year opportunity: Two slots available for affiliated graduate students only. Students will
participate in a combined practicum (100 hours) and internship (600 hours) experience. This includes a seven-week
part-time Fall practicum, followed by a seven-week part-time Fall internship and a 12-week full-time Spring internship.
