Who doesn’t love getting lost in a great movie? CinemaVision is CHAM’s state-of-the-art entertainment system: patients put on the CinemaVision goggles to watch their favorite films during a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, easing them through the procedure and providing a welcome alternative to sedation. Talk to your child’s radiologist to learn more about our CinemaVision options.
Younger children sometimes face difficulties staying calm, collected and still during computed tomography (CT) scans and MRI examinations; this can cause images to come out blurry, potentially affecting the accuracy of a diagnosis. When appropriate, CHAM is equipped to sedate children for these procedures; all sedations are supervised by physicians trained in pediatric anesthesia; from start to finish, we closely monitor all children using cutting-edge equipment, ensuring their safety and comfort.
CT scans and MRI examinations may sometimes require intravenous contrast, a mild injection into the patient’s vein, to enhance our diagnostic accuracy. CHAM is committed to only using non-ionic contrast solutions; while more expensive, this method is safer and reduces the chance of contrast reaction.
Before an upper gastrointestinal (GI) or VCUG examination, we may ask your child to refrain from food for a certain period of time. This prevents stomach problems during the examination and allows the contrast material to show up with greater detail.
