Intrathecal baclofen has now been shown to be a useful addition to the armamentary of techniques used to deal with muscle hypertonia. Physicians particularly value the ability it affords them to reverse its effects or to titrate them, thus avoiding undesirable side effects to limb function. For cases where there is doubt as to whether or not the limb’s function is dependent on its spasticity, use of intrathecal baclofen can be quite useful.
