OUR EXPERTISE

Caring for a child with liver disease can be complicated and requires ongoing, astute and sophisticated management by experts such as ours. The Pediatric Liver Program at CHAM is dedicated to providing the best treatments possible for your child and to educate and assist your family every step of the way. Our objective is to maximize liver function, facilitate healthy growth and development and improve the quality of life for each infant, child and adolescent that we treat.

Our team explores all potential treatment strategies, both medical and surgical, before determining the best options. If we find that your child needs a liver transplant, our transplant program is built around a team of internationally renowned surgeons, as well as gastroenterologists, hepatologists, nurses, social workers, nutritionists and administrators, all of whom specialize in liver disease and transplantation.

Our program is an integral part of the fellowship training in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. All gastroenterology fellows have dedicated hepatology rotations.

The overall goal of the rotation is for the fellow to master all aspects of direct clinical care of pre and post liver transplant patients, as well as patients afflicted with non-transplant related diseases of the liver. The skills to be acquired include clinical assessment, treatment plan formulation, team organization, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and procedural expertise.
