Jessica Asante, MS, CGC, is a Genetic Counselor, Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. Ms. Asante's clinical focus centers on 22Q Deletion syndrome, connective tissue disorders and developmental delay./n/n After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2020, Jessica earned her Master of Science in genetic counseling from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 2023. Ms. Asante's research interests include investigating how an individual's race, ethnicity, insurance payor, primary language and referring practice influence the uptake of diagnostic genetic testing after increased nuchal translucency./n/n Ms. Asante is certified in Genetic Counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Miranda Di Biase, MS, CGC
Miranda Di Biase, MS, CGC, is a Pediatric Genetic Counselor at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on counseling families on genetic testing options to find a potential genetic etiology for their child's medical concerns. Ms. Di Biase also specializes in pediatric cancer predisposition syndromes and Williams syndrome./n/n After obtaining her Bachelor of Science from York University in Toronto, Canada in 2016, Ms. Di Biase moved to New York to earn her Master of Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College in 2020. During this time, she completed internships at Genescreen, the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Bronxcare Health System./n/n Ms. Di Biase's research focuses on genome sequencing. She participated in the NYCKidSeq research study, which performed whole genome sequencing for patients with neurological, immune and/or cardiac health problems. Her work has been shared through numerous scientific publications and abstracts./n/n Ms. Di Biase is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and was nominated for the Heart of Genetic Counseling award in 2021 presented by the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Invitae. This award honors genetic counselors who have made a difference in the lives of their patients by using the combination of human excellence and human compassion that defines the profession.
Monisha Sebastin, MS, CGC
Monisha Sebastin, MS, CGC, is Senior Genetic Counselor, Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. In addition to providing genetic counseling services in genetics clinics, Ms. Sebastin specializes in rare diseases, cardiovascular genetics and immunogenetics./n/n After earning her Bachelor of Technology in genetic engineering at Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University in Chennai, India in 2014, Ms. Sebastin moved to New York to complete her Master of Science in human genetics at Sarah Lawrence College in 2018, where she studied genetic counseling. She later completed an online course in Genomic Annotation and Variant Interpretation with the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology in New Delhi, India in 2021./n/n Ms. Sebastin's research focuses on rare diseases, genetic counseling, cardiovascular genetics, immunogenetics and international and global genetic counseling. She has been principal investigator and contributor to several research projects, and her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. She has also given national and international presentations./n/n Ms. Sebastin is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She is the 2024 President of the New York State (NYS) Genetics Task Force and co-chairs the International Special Interest Group (ISIG) at the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC). Her past leadership roles include serving as co-chair of the Pediatric and Clinical SIG, co-chair of the United States Special Interest sub-group of international SIG at NSGC and Chair of the education committee at the NYS Genetics Task Force. She is the 2022 Heart of Genetic Counseling Award recipient, nominated by a patient and presented by the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and Invitae for exceptional dedication to quality patient care and contributions to the field of genetic counseling. Ms. Sebastin is trilingual - English (fluent), Tamil (fluent) and Hindi (conversational). She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, the New York State Genetics Task Force and the National Organization for Rare Disease (NORD).
