Pediatric Staff, Alumni and Network Day 2017: Fostering Education, Connection and Collaboration
What exists today as our Annual Pediatric Staff, Alumni and Network Physician Day started nearly four decades ago.
In 1970, Michael I. Cohen, MD—then our highly-distinguished Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center—wanted alumni to stay connected. As a result, the event he organized was a homecoming to encourage collaboration, understanding, insight and sharing of best practices.
Building Upon a Winning Approach
Today, the names are different, but little else has changed. Our Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM), the hosting institution, is under the leadership of Judy Aschner, MD, Physician-in-Chief, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Michael I. Cohen, MD, University Chair; Professor, Pediatrics, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
But like it was 37 years ago, all who attend will build connections to improve patient care, satisfaction and outcomes for the communities they serve.
What’s unique about our meeting on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, is the range of experts in the room. As Montefiore Health System (MHS), we’re continually looking to harness and expand the knowledge of all members of our growing and influential network.
We encourage attendance not only from CHAM, but also from our network partners:
- Montefiore Hospital (Moses Campus)
- Jack D. Weiler Hospital (Einstein Campus)
- Montefiore Wakefield (Wakefield Campus)
- Montefiore Medical Group
- Montefiore New Rochelle
- Montefiore Mount Vernon
- White Plains Hospital
- Crystal Run Healthcare
- Nyack Hospital
- St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital
All with a passion to learn and grow professionally are welcome to attend.
What to Expect at This Year’s Annual Pediatric Staff, Alumni and Network Physician Day
Hands-on workshops, networking opportunities and an up-close and personal look inside CHAM are on our conference agenda. We’ve also organized conference sessions on clinical topics, including physician wellness and burnout, palliative care essentials, office emergencies and procedures, policy proposals for healthcare financing and more.
Dr. Judy Aschner will deliver the State of the Department of Pediatrics Address before what has historically been a standing-room-only crowd.
Our afternoon Barnett Lecture—named for Dr. Henry Lewis Barnett, a noted pediatrician who was an expert on the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease in children and the founder of the pediatrics department at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine—will feature two exciting and noted speakers:
- Sioban Dolan, MD, will present on “Prenatal Zika Virus Infection and Congenital Zika Syndrome”
- Andrew Racine, MD, PHD, will present “An Update on Policy Proposals for Healthcare Financing in the US: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”
I’m encouraging all CHAM staff to attend and encourage your favorite alumnus and a network provider or two who you have worked with to join us on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
